All governors of Catholic Voluntary Schools and Academies must abide by the Diocesan Code of Conduct for Governing Bodies. The Code of Conduct has been revised in February 2015. This can be tailored for each school or academy and Clerk's should ensure that they hold a signed copy of the document for each governor.

It is important that we maintain accurate information on the make-up of the governing bodies/academy trusts of our schools and academies.

Clerks to Governors for all our schools and Company Secretaries of our Academy Trusts are requested to provide us with an annual return to be submitted on the form GB1 or ATD1 as soon as possible after the first governing body/academy trust meeting of each autumn term.

Catholic Education Service publication for parents, governors and teachers.

Most primary schools and some of our secondary schools name the local parish or parishes as their catchment areas in their admission policies. You must provide a map showing the parish boundary to avoid confusion for Catholic parents who apply to your school. Very occasionally, in appeals, a parent has claimed to be living in the parish and challenged the school on this.

Without the evidence of a map panel members will invariably find in favour of the parent in such cases. If you are uncertain of the parish boundaries, your parish priest should be the first point of contact.

Maps have all recently been reviewed and updated and copies were sent to all schools and parishes.  Copies are also available from the Diocesan Education Service.  Please contact Julie Sweeney.
